WHO WE ARE

Kathryn Ludlow & Associates offers a solution for organisations which require the skills and judgment of a senior and experienced lawyer to conduct an internal investigation.

Organisations increasingly need to carry out investigations in a variety of contexts, whether because of potential regulatory breaches, complaints or grievances lodged by whistleblowers and others or suspected wrongdoing of one kind or another. Regulators, employees, shareholders, investors and many other stakeholders require action when allegations are made. The media spotlight is often also brought to bear.

In most cases a thorough investigation is needed by an investigator entirely independent of the organisation with seniority, experience and good judgment. Kathryn has established a firm dedicated exclusively to investigations work.

Kathryn Ludlow is a solicitor with a current practising certificate and is regulated by the Solicitors Regulatory Authority.

Kathryn Ludlow & Associates is not a firm of solicitors and therefore is not authorised by the SRA.

How We Work

Kathryn Ludlow & Associates provides high level independent investigation services. Being truly independent, we run investigations without complication and, being dedicated to investigations work, with complete focus. Kathryn will lead on your investigation.

Preparation is key and at the outset she will spend time with you to understand the purpose of the investigation, to whom she will be reporting, the regulatory landscape and relationship with any other advisors. She will finalise the Terms of Reference with you to ensure that the scope of investigation is appropriate and clear.

She will establish with you what support is needed from the associates with whom she collaborates and from within your organisation so that an appropriate investigative team is established.

An initial investigative plan will be made but flexibility is key as the investigation proceeds and develops.

Kathryn will always discuss an appropriate fee arrangement based on the likely scope, extent and subject matter of the investigation.

Clodagh Hayes is an experienced corporate lawyer.

Having gained English and French law degrees at King’s College London and Université de Paris I, Clodagh qualified and became a partner in the mainstream corporate team at the international law firm Linklaters LLP. Based in London, and for periods in Paris and China, Clodagh covered a wide range of transactional work, including mergers and acquisitions, privatisations, joint ventures, IPOs, restructurings and reorganisations. She acted mainly for private sector clients including Vodafone, Anglo American and GE and also has broad public sector experience.

Clodagh’s work brought her in to close contact with the most senior executives in her clients and she regularly advised the board as a whole. Clodagh is skilled at getting to the core of an issue quickly, presenting  and thinking strategically and imaginatively, leading on due diligence and taking difficult decisions. Her investigative skills have been enhanced since stepping down from the partnership in serving on the Linklaters partner election process, including as Deputy Chair. This involves interviewing a wide range of individuals as part of a rigorous due diligence exercise on partner candidates.

Clodagh’s clients and colleagues appreciate  her ability to balance intellectual rigour and challenge with empathy and humility. She is very much a “people person” and has a patient and compassionate manner.

Jeremy Webb

Jeremy Webb has practised for most of his career as a Capital Markets lawyer.

He studied History at Bristol University, from where he was recruited by Linklaters LLP. He was elected to the Linklaters partnership, and spent the latter 20 years of his legal career in Asia advising investment banks and corporates on debt and equity capital markets financings. He worked primarily on raising capital on listed markets (bond issuances, equity placements and initial public offerings), as well as private equity, restructurings and other corporate finance matters. Jeremy has also held a number of management roles at the firm, including sitting on its Asia Executive Committee and acting as Finance Partner for the Asian region for several years.

Jeremy’s professional experience has involved many years of conducting detailed due diligence and distilling that information into an investor friendly format. He is also experienced in dealing with senior management teams and delivering to tight deadlines in highly pressured and sensitive situations. Since retiring from the Linklaters partnership, Jeremy has retained a role with the firm assisting with its partner and counsel election processes and conducting business reviews and internal investigations for the firm. Jeremy also sits as a Presiding Magistrate in the Family Court. In that role, amongst other things, he regularly conducts fact findings into complex disputes that involve a range of abusive behaviours.  In his judicial role, Jeremy’s skills of dealing with highly personal matters in confidence, with tact, and with fairness, kindness and respect, are particularly valued.
